Specifications

The product Stoneware Pipes are intended for laying in the sewage line. These pipes are effective against acids alkalis and other salts present in the soil. These pipes?s life span is supposed to be more than hundred years due to its resistance against acid, alkali and low water absorption. The following tests have been selected and recommended by Bureau of Indian Standards to stand the pipe in all weather and soil conditions as stipulated in Indian Standard IS:651 2007 for ISI marked Pipes.

Hydraulic Test Pipe shall withstand an internal hydraulic pressure of 0.15 MPa on the barrel.
Absorption Test Total increase in mass by absorption of water shall not increase 6% upto and including 20mm thickness of pipes. (It increases with the higher thickness of pipes.)
Acid Resistance Test All pipes when tested for acid resistance with Sulphuric acid (specific gravity) in accordance with the procedure, the loss in mass shall not exceed 2.5%.

Calculation = Mass of residue (M2)/ Mass of dry specimen (M1)*100
Alkali Resistance Test The resistance of pipes to alkali is determined by reacting it with Magnesium Sulphate in accordance with the given specified procedure; there shall be no evidence of spitting, softening, spalling or cracking.
Crushing Strength When tested along the full length of the pipe barrel from shoulder to spigot in accordance with specified procedure, the crushing strength of the pipe shall be not less than 16 kN/m. The average strength of our pipes are not less than 18.4 kN/m.
Tolerance in Internal Diameter The permissible tolerance vary with the internal dia of the pipe such as :

100mm - 3 %
150mm - 3 %
200mm - 3 %
250mm - 3 %
300mm - 3%
400mm - 2.5%
Tolerance on length The permissible tolerance on length on all diameter of pipes is (-) 1.5 % & (+) 4 % of length.
Tolerance on Thickness The permissible tolerance on thickness of pipes is
100 - 350mm - 3mm
not exceeding 450mm - 2mm
Deviation from straightness The maximum permissible deviation from straightness of the barrel of Pipes measured on the inside of the curve and tested by means of a straight edge, for all diameters of pipe, shall be 1% of the length of pipe.
Glazing The interior and exterior surfaces of the pipes and fittings which remain exposed after jointing shall be glazed. The glaze shall be ceramic glaze consisting of glazing material, applied prior to firing.
